As a child growing up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fred became interested in art in school and began private lessons. He studied painting and composition, form and design, and commercial art as part of his high school curriculum. He has developed his skill in a variety of styles of painting, including still lifes, wildlife, landscapes, and portraits.
Fred captures the breathtaking beauty of the scenery and wildlife through oils around Crestone and the Southwest U.S. His desire to depict the natural world arises from an avid interest in the outdoors and concern for the environment.
Over the past 20 years, he has studied with a variety of nationally known wildlife, plein air, and landscape artists. He has received awards in juried shows around Oklahoma and Colorado.
